Do you have a child who is due to begin Primary 1 in September 2019?

At Lisnasharragh there are two classes in each year group with 370 children attending altogether. In September 2019 the school will be permitted to accept up to 60 children into Primary 1. Application packs which include a Prospectus and other information regarding the enrolment process will be available from school towards the end of November. Completed forms should be submitted no later than Thursday 31 January.  (Places are also available in other year groups.)

If you would like to find out more about the school please come along to our Open Night on Tuesday 4 December beginning at 5.30pm. Alternatively, prospective parents can arrange to have an individual meeting and tour of the school with me at any time during the week commencing Monday 3 December. Simply, give us a call!

Boys and girls of all ages are very welcome to attend our Christmas Activity Morning on Saturday 8 December from 10.00am to 12.30pm.  Please come and visit our school! 

Application Procedure

There are new procedures for applying for a Primary 1 place (September 2019):

Digital Applications

  •  if your child is starting primary school in September 2019, you can apply for a place online from Wednesday 2 January 2019 at 10.00am

  •  the closing date and time for Primary 1 applications is 12.00 midnight on Thursday 31 January 2019

  •  we will be offering parents the opportunity to come into school to complete the online application in our library (if that would be useful)

  •  you can view admissions criteria online at

  •  the admissions criteria is only applied when a school is over-subscribed

  •  the admissions criteria for Lisnasharragh PS is included our Prospectus for 2019-20

  •  parents must bring their child’s Birth Certificate to their first choice school no later than 12 noon on Friday 8 February

Paper applications

The Education Authority has confirmed that paper applications will also be accepted:

  •  if you prefer, you can complete a paper application form

  •  during the period when applications can be completed (2 January to 31 January)you can instead complete a paper application form and leave it into the school

  •  the Education Authority will be making paper forms available in late December

Key dates and opportunities for you to visit our school


Application Packs including a Prospectus and Enrolment Form will be available from Mrs Childs (our school secretary towards the end of November. Enrolment Forms should be returned to our the school office. A birth certificate will be required.

Open Week: Monday 3rd December to Friday 7th December

Prospective parents can arrange to have a walk round the school with the Principal (takes around 30 mins) and ask any questions that they might have.

Open Night (from 5:30PM): Tuesday 3rd December

All prospective parents can come along and see the facilities and resources that the school has to offer. The Principals Talk will be at 6.00PM in the Parents Room - repeated at 7.00PM. Everyone is very welcome to attend - you will have the opportunity to hear our superb school choir singing their Christmas carols and songs at 7.40PM.

Christmas Activity Morning (10.00AM-12.30PM): Saturday 8 December

There will be lots of craft (and other) activities for children of all ages. Santa will also be making an appearance! Entrance and all craft activities are free. This is always a fun morning - everyone is welcome to come along!

Wednesday 2nd January

If your child is starting primary school in September 2019, you can now apply for a place online.

Friday 11th January

A repeat of the Principals Talk at 9.20am (for those parents who were unable to attend on Open Night).

Thursday 31st January

This is the final date by which all Enrolment Forms must be returned to Lisnasharragh Primary School (by 12 midnight) - it is important not to be late!

Tuesday 21st May

Information Evening for parents (from 7.30pm to 9.00pm).

Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th June

Meet the Teacher afternoons for our new P1s. The boys and girls will have the opportunity to visit their classroom and to meet their P1 teacher. This begins at 2.10pm and finishes at 2.45pm.
